“All happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast.” John Gunther
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! It prevents you from overeating the entire day, improves your concentration, gives you more strength to engage in any physical activity. Many comparative studies have shown how breakfast skippers eat twice as breakfast eaters and thus end up consuming more calories, more saturated fats and develop higher levels of cholesterol. Also, skipping breakfast is the root cause of the slow down of their metabolic rate and the drop in their blood sugar levels which makes them feel more hungry, have less energy and leads to eat bigger portions during lunch and dinner. Studies have also shown that breakfast eaters live longer than those who skip it!
Thinking outside the box led me to come up with four different ideas that can be easily prepared and served in a glass to ensure many vital nutrients and energize the body throughout the day!
In a blender mix 5 tablespoons of fat free yogurt with 10 strawberries.Add two tablespoons of ground flaxseeds.Pour the mixture in a glass.Top the mixture with two rounded slices of an apple and place half a cup of cooked Kamut.Decorate with 12 pieces of dried cranberries!
Kamut is a whole grain with a distinguishing bump.It may date back as far as 6000 years. It is rich, with a butter flavor and a chewing texture. It is higher in protein, magnesium and potassium than regular wheat and is a good source of the B vitamins. It provides your body with enough energy to sustain during the coming hours of the day. It is important to note that kamut can be substituted to wheat in any recipe. It can be served cold in salads or accompany any cooked stew.
1/2-cup of cooked kamut contains 140 calories, 5 grams of fiber and 6 grams of proteins.
This breakfast provides around 300 calories!
hello, I wanted to ask you what kind of yogurt you are using? The regular Lebanese one because it’s kinda sour for this kind of recipe. The sweet ones, like Taanayel, are all flavored. There is no plain yogurt one. Thank you so much and I really like all your posts and your website. Keep up the great work!!
Hi Aya’ I use the Lebanese fat free ones that are sour! Stay tuned!
Hi Aya’I usually use the sour one however you can actually find greek plain yogurt at TSC gourmet or Carrefour! Thank you for your support stay tuned!
