The suhour is the most important meal during the period of fasting. It provides energy during the day, provides essential nutrients and soothes and reduces hunger and headaches and provides a good sleep.
It must be healthy and include a source of whole grains that are rich in proteins, fibers, B vitamins, antioxidants, minerals (iron, zinc, magnesium). Daily consumption of whole grains reduces the risk of developing: Cardiovascular diseases, some forms of cancer and diabetes. And facilitates the digestion especially during the fasting period where the risks of constipation increase as the biological clock of each individual changes with the new scheduled food consumption.
For today’s suhour I suggest: A Whole Wheat Pain de Mie from @chayeb_bakery with a spread of Hummus Bethini that’s made from another whole grain (chickpeas) topped with 3 slices of avocado (rich in fiber and more than 20 essential nutrients) and two slices of mango, 1/4 tsp of sesame seeds and 1/4 tsp of diced fresh ciboulette!
Avocados are a great source of monounsaturated fats that help increase the levels of good cholesterol (HDL) and chickpeas as well as whole grains when consumed regularly help decrease the total amount of cholesterol as fiber binds to it and excretes it from the body!
